Pool Cage Rescreening

Among our specialties are the rescreening of the entire pool cage, patio, back porch lanai, screened in lanai, and screened in front porch.

For this process, we prepare the area and remove the entire spline (the rubber that holds the screen within the aluminum) as well as the old screen and take measurements.

We begin the rescreening, in a way where we divide the aluminum structure’s screen panels section by section, from largest to smallest. This way we are ensuring that they resist strong winds and that our work’s guarantee is real and objective.

In all cases, we concern ourselves with the aesthetic of our work, ensuring that the panels remain without visible wrinkles or bubbles that may damage the visual appeal.

Pool Cage Rescreening
Process

To begin the process of removing damaged screen mesh, start by gently lifting the end of the spline that holds it in position. Take care as you pull the entire spline out of the groove and set it aside. Once that is done, proceed to detach the pool cage rescreen from the frame.

Prior to replacing the damaged screens, it is important to take precise measurements of each panel. From a roll of screen material, cut out screen pieces that match these measurements. Always adding an additional inch to each measurement to allow for proper fitting.

Align the screen panel with the frame and secure it in place using a spline tool. Begin at one corner and work your way around, making sure to leave no more than an inch of excess at the top for later trimming.

While installing the screen, apply pressure and roll it into place, ensuring that the spline fits snugly into the groove of the frame. It is crucial to hold the screen tightly to prevent any wrinkles or uneven installation.

To remove any excess screen that protrudes beyond the spline groove, employ the use of box cutters. Be cautious and cut in an outward-facing direction to avoid accidentally damaging the new screen.

To eliminate any surplus screen material, utilize a utility knife to trim along the outer edge of the spline channel. Take care not to harm the spline during this process.

When should screens be replaced?

Under the scorching Florida sun, the screen, chosen by the clients can resist the elements for approximately 10 years. On the other hand, the higher quality Polyester screen boasts a longer lifespan of approximately 15 years.

However, once your screen hits this age it will start showing a few signs such as:

  • Tears, it’s only a matter of time before more appear.
  • Spline begins to fall out, (the spline is the robber pieces that goes around the panel, its function is to attached the screen to the aluminum frame).
  • Screen is looking shinny and the fiberglass becomes noticeable.
  • Screws become rusted, it makes gives the cage instability, due to this the panels becomes lose and tear apart.

While torn panels can be replaced individually, opting for a complete rescreen, offers better value for your money.

The cost of individual replacements can quickly surpass that of a full re-screen, providing you with more screen coverage for each dollar spent.
